Instagram prepares to launch twitter competitor: check details

Delhi : Instagram intends to build a text-based application that will rival Twitter. Currently, the corporation is testing the concept with well-known persons and influencers, according to those with knowledge of the situation. According to one of the sources, it has been available in secret to a small group of designers for months. 

According to Lia Haberman, who teaches social and influencer marketing at UCLA and tweeted a snapshot of an early app description, the app, which will be independent from Instagram yet allow users to link accounts, may launch as early as June. According to Haberman's screenshot, it could ultimately be compatible with other Twitter rival applications like Mastodon.

Instagram, which is owned by Meta Platforms Inc., did not immediately reply to a comment request. Elon Musk's messy takeover of Twitter has forced some users to explore for alternatives, creating a market opportunity.

"Historically, we know Meta likes to sample and recreate features from other apps and third-party tools based on what they anticipate being popular with their users," said Haberman. She mentioned that Musk has discussed turning Twitter into a "everything app," with several capabilities other than informational updates. "Based on Meta's track record of borrowing from other platforms, it's much more likely that they'll get there first by consolidating all of these experiences they're building." In March, Platformer revealed that Meta was looking at a text-based application.
