Delhi : Today, longtime NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino was appointed officially as Twitter's new CEO. The bio on Ms. Yaccarino's LinkedIn profile has also been changed.

Ms. Yaccarino, who formerly served as head of advertising at NBCUniversal, previously stated that she is eager to contribute to the social media platform's transformation because she is inspired by Elon Musk, the company's owner, and his desire to build a better future. I've long been moved by [Musk's] commitment to building a better future. I'm eager to work with Twitter to improve this company and bring about this ambition. Tweets from Yaccarino.

Ever since Musk bought Twitter

Since Musk acquired Twitter, advertisers have abandoned the service out of fear that their advertisements would be displayed next to offensive content because the firm laid off almost 80% of its workers. Earlier this year, Musk recognised the dramatic drop in Twitter's ad revenue.

Although Musk claimed Yaccarino would assist in creating a "everything app," which he has previously claimed could provide a range of services like peer-to-peer payments, his choice of an advertising veteran suggested that digital advertisements would still be the company's primary area of concentration. Musk has previously stated his intention to select a new Twitter CEO.

Joe Benarroch, who formerly served with her as executive vice president at NBC Universal, has also been hired by the new CEO of Twitter. In a tweet, Mr. Benarroch expressed excitement about working with the company's team to "build Twitter 2.0 together."
