Delhi : On Monday, June 5, Apple is scheduled to unveil iOS 17 during its WWDC 2023 keynote. Rumours indicate that the software update would include at least 12 new features and updates for iPhones.

The iOS 17 beta should be available to members of Apple's $99/year Developer Programme shortly after the keynote, with a public beta following in July for users of Apple's free Beta Software Programme. As is customary, the update will be widely distributed in September, around the time that new iPhones are announced. Some of the improvements and changes described below may not be available until subsequent versions of iOS 17, such as iOS 17.1 or iOS 17.2.

New Accessibility Options

Apple showcased new iPhone accessibility capabilities coming later this year with iOS 17. Apple, for example, stated that a new mode known as Assisitive Access will provide users access to simpler Camera, Photos, Music, Calls, and Messages applications that are reduced to core functionality in order to "lighten their cognitive load for users."

Another popular feature is Personal Voice, which allows people who are losing their capacity to speak to "create a voice that sounds like them" in just 15 minutes for communication with family, friends, and others.

Next-Generation CarPlay

Apple previewed the next edition of CarPlay at WWDC 2022, which will allow multiple screens, widgets, and integration with car features like as the instrument cluster, temperature settings, and FM radio.

Apple stated the first vehicles with next-generation CarPlay compatibility will be unveiled in late 2023, with Acura, Audi, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Porsche, Volvo, and others on board. Apple stated that it will provide more information regarding the next generation of CarPlay later this year, implying that it will be an iOS 17 feature.

Journal Application

Apple is working on an iPhone journaling software that might compete with Day One. The software, will be available with iOS 17 and is "designed to add note taking and a stronger social element to the device." "Users could use the app to, say, write a journal entry about their walk to work," explained.

Find My Enhancements

iOS 17 will bring improvements to Apple's built-in Find My app. He stated that Apple is contemplating "location services enhancements," in addition to merging with the rumoured journaling app, but he did not disclose any additional specifics.

Key Verification for iMessage Contacts

Apple unveiled a new iMessage Contact Key Verification security feature in December, stating that it will be available internationally in 2023. This timeline implies that the functionality will be available on iOS 17, and maybe iOS 16.6 as well.

Users who face "extraordinary digital threats," like as journalists, human rights activists, and government officials, can utilise iMessage Contact Key Verification to ensure that they are messaging solely with the persons they want. Users who have activated iMessage Contact Key Verification are warned if a state-sponsored attacker or other malicious actor successfully breaches cloud infrastructure and inserts their own device to eavesdrop on the chat.

As an added degree of protection, iMessage Contact Key Verification users may compare a Contact Verification Code in person, on FaceTime, or over another secure conversation to ensure they are connecting only with the people they want to.

App Sideloading in EU

Apple intends to allow app sideloading on the iPhone by March 2024 in order to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets Act. This would allow users to install software from sources other than Apple's App Store, although the move is only scheduled to be implemented in European Union nations at first. According to his findings, Apple intended to provide the sideloading feature as part of a "update to iOS 17," such as iOS 17.1 or later.

Mood Tracking in Health App

iOS 17 will contain new features for controlling eyesight issues and tracking emotions in Apple's built-in Health app for the iPhone. Additionally, he anticipates that iPadOS 17 will include the release of the Health app this year.

Unwanted Tracking Alerts Expansion

Recently, Apple and Google published a proposed industry definition to help prevent the unwarranted surveillance of people using Bluetooth item trackers. In support of this strategy, Apple intends to add third-party item trackers to unwanted tracking warnings that resemble AirTag alerts.

According to Apple, the following companies have endorsed the draught specification: Tile, Chipolo, Samsung, Eufy, and Pebblebee.

The standard will be supported in a later version of iOS once Apple releases a "production implementation" of it by the end of 2023. This timeline suggests that a subsequent release of iOS 17 will likely broaden the scope of unwanted tracking notifications.
