Delhi : Today, Microsoft is launching a significant upgrade for Windows 11 that brings AI-powered Bing search to the taskbar. This upgrade will provide rapid access to the Bing AI chatbot in addition to a number of other new capabilities.

This unexpected update, which wasn't tried out with Windows Insiders, integrates Bing into the taskbar. The search box will now feature a new Bing icon, and the search flyout will emphasise the chat responses feature.

While chat responses won't be directly available in the search flyout, Windows 11 users will be able to start a Bing chat in Edge right away from that page. One week after Microsoft introduced the same mode to Bing on mobile and in Skype discussions, Bing chat is now available in the Windows 11 taskbar.

"Soon hundreds of millions of Windows 11 users can receive access to this great new technology to search, communicate, answer queries and generate content from directly on their Windows taskbar," wrote Microsoft's EVP & Chief Product Officer Panos Panay in a blog post.

The startup debuted its AI-powered chatbot for Bing last month in an effort to overtake Alphabet Inc.'s Google by outpacing it with search software that is similar to ChatGPT.

Apart than Bing, Windows 11 has received a number of new features. For instance, Microsoft has included new Braille display functionality, and Notepad now includes tabs. The built-in Teams interface has been enhanced to make it simpler to preview videos and to access chats more quickly.

Additionally, Windows 11's widgets system will have third-party alternatives from Meta and Spotify, and a new taskbar designed for tablets will enhance the touch experience.

A preview of the iOS Phone Link app will also be made available, enabling iPhone owners to connect their devices to Windows in order to enjoy message, call, and notification functions.

New toggles have been added to the Quick Help app to increase laptop energy efficiency.

Snipping Tool now has a new built-in screen recorder.

You can manually check for new updates through Windows Update if you want to use these new capabilities. But, along with the monthly security update, these improvements will be publicly released in March.
