No more annoying conversations! Here's how to block contacts on WhatsApp

Delhi : WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging apps, you may have run into a circumstance when you felt the need to ban someone. You may block a contact or an unknown number on WhatsApp, whether it be a nasty ex, a distant relative, or a random person who keeps contacting you. Users can even report contacts if they believe their content or spam to be a concern.

Here are two step-by-step instructions for blocking a WhatsApp contact.

How to Block Someone on WhatsApp

Method 1:

1. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of WhatsApp to access the menu.
   
2. Select Settings>Privacy>Blocked Contacts.
3. Now Choose "+" from the menu, then look up the relevant contact in your contact list.
   

Method 2:

1. Open the WhatsApp conversation with the person you want to block.
   
2. Tap the three dots again in the upper-right corner.
   
3. Click More>  Block
   

Here are the steps you can do if you want to stop receiving WhatsApp messages from unknown numbers.

How to block a phone number which is unknown

1. Launch the chat window for the new contact.
   
2. The "Block" option is located at the top.
   
3. If you want, you can "Report" the contact.
   

For the unfamiliar, blocking a contact prevents them from calling or texting you on WhatsApp. Their view of your "Last seen" or "Online" status will also be blocked. Additionally, your WhatsApp profile image won't be viewable by them

The contact will still be present in the address book even if you block them, so keep that in mind. You'll actually need to delete it by hand to make it disappear.

Notably, a shortcut called "block" is apparently being developed by WhatsApp to make it simpler for users to block contacts.
