Delhi : WhatsApp offers several kinds of privacy settings, one of which is 'View Once'. With this function, users can transmit pictures and movies that, after being viewed once, vanish from the recipient's WhatsApp chat. Some customers are reportedly starting to receive the service, which was deleted a year ago.

A WABetainfo report claims that since it prevented users from sharing "View Once" photographs and videos, the elimination of functionality for sending view once messages from desktop programs seemed pointless. The source stated that WhatsApp "appears to have decided to bring back support for sending view once photos and videos to all their desktop apps" and that it will be making this feature available to more users in the upcoming weeks.

Restoring the "View Once" option on WhatsApp

The option to designate an image as a view once message may be found in the drawing editor's caption bar on WhatsApp for Windows, which is where the feature to send "view once" messages is currently being restored. In recent weeks, WhatsApp has also made view-once messaging possible via WhatsApp for macOS and connected devices. It should be mentioned that WhatsApp Web has just made it possible to send "view once" photos and videos.

What is the feature of "view once" messages?

Users will be able to transmit videos and photographs that are only viewable once thanks to WhatsApp desktop apps' "view once messages" feature. When a message is set to "view once," no media will be saved to the recipient's gallery or photos, and users won't be able to view the delivered image or video again once it has been viewed once.

Sent video or photos with the option to "view once" cannot be shared, starred, saved, or forwarded. If the read receipts are enabled, the sender's only knowledge is that the recipient has clicked to watch a picture or video.

"The media from the chat will expire if you don't open the photo or video within 14 days of it being sent. Every time you wish to transmit a view once photo or video, you have to choose the view once media option, according to WhatsApp.

If the message is not opened at the time of backup, "view once" media can be restored from backup. The media cannot be restored if the picture or video has previously been seen and is not part of the backup.
