Whatsapp's status feature gets a major update: Here's what you need to know
Delhi : Today, WhatsApp revealed a tonne of new features for the Status function. Due to updates that are currently rolling out, all of these new capabilities are now accessible to users worldwide and will be made available to all WhatsApp users "in the coming weeks."
What exactly is new, I hear you ask? The ability to record and share voicemails as status updates is the first. They could last up to 30 seconds. You can then modify the privacy settings for each status to choose who can see (or hear) your status whenever it is updated. The audience selection you made most recently is maintained and then utilised as the default for your subsequent status, as you might expect.
Status reactions, which let you reply to status updates, were allegedly the most often requested feature for WhatsApp after the launch of chat reactions last year. You can quickly reply to any update by tapping one of the eight emojis by swiping up from the bottom. You may still reply via text, voicemail, or stickers, of course.
A new status profile ring will show up around your contact's profile photo each time they make a status update. This ring will be visible in the chat list, participant lists for groups, and contact information section.
Both chats and status updates can now display link previews. As a result, when you publish a link to it on your status, the preview will immediately show up, enhancing the visual appeal of your status and letting your contacts know what the link is about before they touch on it.
