New Delhi : After almost 20 years, the US troops vacated biggest airfield in Afghanistan, the Bagram airbase on July 2. According to some reports, the US troops slipped off the fields without even informing the commander. However, the new Afghan military commander claims he discovered the departure of US troops hours after their exit.

It must be noted that the airbase was completely handed over to Afghanistan soldiers, but the military criticized how the US troops decided to leave the place.

Meanwhile, Pentagon has announced that 90 per cent of pull out of US troops from Afghanistan has been completed.

CentCom said it had officially handed over seven former US bases to the Afghan security forces and had evacuated the equivalent of nearly 1,000 C-17 air freighter loads of equipment from the country, ahead of the September deadline to complete the pullout.

On Friday US forces handed over the sprawling Bagram air base north of Kabul, the main center of US military operations in the country for most of the past two decades of conflict.
