Blast at a commercial building in Dhaka; 17 killed, over 100 injured

New Delhi : At least 17 people lost their lives and hundreds were injured in an explosion that took place in a 7-storey commercial building in Dhaka on Tuesday. The explosion took place at around 4:45 PM local time near a bus counter. 5 firefighting units were seen rushing towards the spot for rescue operation.

those who were injured in the incident have been shifted to a nearby hospital where their treatment is underway. According to a report, the injured were taking to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. 

The commercial building houses a bank branch, shops of ceramics and sanitary item.

Meanwhile, it is also being investigated about the cause of explosion. The local residents suspect chemicals illegally stored inside the building, mostly used as an office and business complex, might have sparked the blast.

Also, other people are suspected to be trapped under the rubble of the building. The rescue operation team are trying to save more lives at the moment.
