Delhi : Kia Carens' engines will soon be modified to meet the new RDE pollution standards. Together with the engines, the automaker is probably going to add additional Carens variations to the portfolio.

Leaked type approval certificates indicate that the Carens might be available in a Diesel iMT trim. This model will employ a 1.5-liter turbo-diesel engine that generates 114 BHP and is anticipated to be mated with an iMT transmission.

A new entry-level 5-seater gasoline and diesel variant for the Carens is also a possibility. According to the document, these might be referred to as M-Drive and P-Drive, respectively. The P-Drive is anticipated to be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater variants and will likely sit below the Premium specification.

Currently, there are three engine choices for the Carens. They include a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that generates 113 BHP and 144 Nm, a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that generates 138 BHP and 242 Nm, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine that generates 113 BHP and 250 Nm. A 6-speed manual, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic are available as transmission choices.
