“Let me extend our warmest wishes to the people of India. I just spoke to your Prime Minister today — had a great conversation. Highlighting the spirit of Diwali, Trump said the lighting of the diya symbolises “faith in the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.” He noted that the festival inspires people “to seek the path of wisdom, work with diligence, and give thanks for our many blessings.”

Following his remarks, Trump lit ceremonial diyas to commemorate the occasion.

The event saw participation from senior members of the Trump administration, including FBI Director Kash Patel, ODNI Director Tulsi Gabbard, White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai, India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor.

Prominent Indian-American business leaders were also present, underscoring the growing influence of the diaspora and the enduring strength of US-India ties.

The celebration reflected Diwali’s increasing prominence in American cultural life and served as a reaffirmation of the friendship between the two nations.
