Donald Trump predicts coronavirus deaths peak in two weeks

Washington : President Donald Trump on Sunday said that the United States will be witnessing a peak in the death rate from the coronavirus pandemic in about two weeks. 

During the press briefing at the White House, Donald Trump also announced the extension of government's "social distancing" guidelines until April 30.

"The modelling estimates that the peak in death rate is likely to hit in two weeks," the president said.

"Therefore, we will be extending our guidelines to April 30th to slow the spread," he said.

Trump also said he expects the country "will be well on our way to recovery" by June 1 - dropping his previous target of Easter.

Nearly 1.5 lakh Americans have been diagnosed positive to the coronavirus which is the highest figure of virus spread in any country. Around 2500 people have lost their lives in the US due to pandemic.
