If Donald Trump suggests a coronavirus vaccine, I will not take it: Kamala Harris

Washington : US Senator Kamala Harris called Donald Trump's response to coronavirus pandemic as 'greatest failure' of any US administrator in history during her debate with Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday.

But Mike Pence fired back and said such statements can degrade people's confidence in coronavirus vaccine and she must restrain from making such comments.

"The American people have witnessed what is the greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of our country," Ms Harris, running mate to Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, said.

"If the public health professionals, if Dr Fauci, if the doctors tell us that we should take it, I'll be the first in line to take it absolutely, but if Donald Trump tells us to take it, I'm not taking it," Kamala Harris said on the vaccine.

In United States, more than 2,10,000 people have lost their lives to coronavirus, and more than 7.5 million people have been infected by the virus.

Mr Pence, however, slammed Kamala Harris for her statements. "The fact that you continue to undermine public confidence in a vaccine, if the vaccine emerges during the Trump administration, I think is unconscionable," Mike Pence said.
