In the hour of need, India was there with US: Joe Biden

New Delhi : After a phone call with PM Narendra Modi, the US POTUS Joe Biden said that India was there with US in the hour of need and now they will stand strong with the nation in its fight against the worst-ever public health crisis.

The two leaders had a 'fruitful' conversation over the phone as the US assured all possible help to India in its fight against coronavirus.

The urgent help announced by the White House ranged from oxygen supplies, raw materials for COVID-19 vaccines, critical life-saving drugs to PPEs.

"India was there for us, and we will be there for them," Joe Biden said in a tweet soon after his phone call with PM Modi.



"Today, I spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pledged America's full support to provide emergency assistance and resources in the fight against COVID-19," Joe Biden said.

It has been learned that the two leaders discussed situation of India in a call that lasted for around 45 minutes. Biden is understood to have offered all help that India needs in this hour of crisis.

"The president pledged America's steadfast ongoing support for the people of India, who have been impacted by the recent surge in the COVID-19 cases," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters at the daily news conference.

Meanwhile, India has reported around 3.5 lakh new coronavirus cases on Monday.
