New Delhi : India on Saturday abstained from the United Nation vote that strongly condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

The tri-colour nation maintained that violence is no solution to any problem and no resolution can be achieved at a cost of human lives.

India once again suggested that dialogue is the only way to resolve differences. The nation claimed that the path of diplomacy has been missed and for that reason it will abstain from voting.

Concern about the safety of Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine was also raised at the UNSC meet.

Eleven countries have voted in favour of the resolution sponsored by the United States; while three nations, including India, abstained from it.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called Russian President Vladimir Putin to speak about the ongoing situation, asking him to ensure safety of Indian nationals in Ukraine.
