New Delhi : Amid ongoing military battle between Russia and Ukraine, 40 Indian students have reportedly walked till Poland border for evacuation from the nation. They were dropped 8km away from the border point by a college bus and from there they walked till the border in freezing cold condition.

A student from the group shared images with news agency ANI.

It has been said by the government officials that India will now evacuate stranded nationals via neighbouring nations as the air space of Ukraine has been closed for passenger planes.

It must be noted that around 16,000 Indian nationals (mostly students) are stranded in Ukraine and are seeking help to evacuate from the nation.

Yesterday, Prime Miniser Narendra Modi had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the situation; he had asked him to maintain the safety of Indian nationals and refrain from violence, solve the matter via dialogue.
