Japan to invest 35 billion dollars in India, no breakthrough in nuclear deal

- On Monday, Japan PM Shinzo Abe announced USD 35 billion dollar investment in India
- This investment will be spreaded over the next five years
- Both the countries decided to enhance their defence and strategic cooperation
- No breakthrough came in nuclear deal, but they agreed to speed up negotiations
- Abe had recieved PM Modi on Saturday in Kyoto
- Both the premiers had spent their weekend by visiting two ancient Buddhist temples
- Earlier, Modi invited Japan businessmen to come and do business with India
- At the summit talks, the two countries decided to elevate their ties to a Special Strategic Global Partnership
- Tokyo will also help India in providing financial, technical and operational support to introduce bullet trains
- Tokyo had also agreed to develop Varanasi like their city Kyoto
- Modi is on a five day visit to Japan
