Manipur Violence: Elon Musk reacts sharply on Starlink tweet
New Delhi : Space X founder Elon Musk on Wednesday shared his reactions on claims that Starlink satellite is being used by terrorists. In his defence, he clarified that the satellite beams are turned off over India.
Interestingly, security forces had seized an internet device during the raids in Keirao Khunou area of Imphal East District. The internet device looks similar to Starlink with a mention of the company’s name on it. The spear corps of the Indian Army also shared a picture of the seized items and netizens were quick to notice Starlink in it.
On December 16, the security forces posted on X, “Acting on specific intelligence, troops of #IndianArmy and #AssamRifles formations under #SpearCorps carried out joint search operations in the hill and valley regions in the districts of Churachandpur, Chandel, Imphal East and Kagpokpi in #Manipur, in close coordination with @manipur_police and other security forces and recovered 29 weapons comprising of snipers, automatic weapons, rifles, pistols, country made mortars, single barrel rifles, grenades, ammunition and war like stores.”
One of the X user notified and tagged Elon Musk in his comment to take a note of it and act fast to ensure that terrorists are not misusing the technology.
Elon Musk dropped his reply on the comment and mentioned that the Starlink Internet beams are turned off over India. And tagged the information as "False".
It must be noted that Elon Musk’s Starlink currently do not have a license to operate and provide its services in India.
