New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to the United States is anticipated to mark a significant turning point in the Indo-US relationship, as the two nations seek to deepen cooperation across various sectors, encompassing defense and critical technologies. With six prior visits to the US since assuming office in 2014, including meetings with former Presidents Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and current President Joe Biden, PM Modi's forthcoming State visit signifies an exceptional honor reserved solely for America's closest allies and friends.

Day 1: Yoga in New York

On June 20, PM Modi is scheduled to arrive in New York, where he will be warmly greeted by a gathering of Indian Americans at the Andrews Air Force Base. The following day, June 21, the Prime Minister will lead the commemoration of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Ruchira Kamboj, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, stated, "During this event, the PM will pay homage to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi, which now stands proudly on the North Lawn of the UN Headquarters, where yoga activities will also take place." June 22 is marked by a series of prominent events, starting with a ceremonial welcome for PM Modi at the White House, attended by over a thousand guests, including members of the Indian diaspora. Following the welcome, the Prime Minister will engage in a high-level dialogue with President Joe Biden, emphasizing the importance of aligning the economic and technological ecosystems of both nations and addressing barriers to the establishment of robust supply chains. In addition to the symbolic aspects associated with a State visit, PM Modi has been invited to deliver a speech before a joint session of the US Congress in the afternoon of June 22, an honor bestowed upon only two other world leaders outside of Israel. His previous address to the US Congress took place in 2016 during the Obama administration. Later in the evening, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host a grand State dinner in honor of PM Modi, attended by several hundred distinguished guests, including members of Congress, diplomats, and celebrities.
