With six prior visits to the US since assuming office in 2014, including meetings with former Presidents Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and current President Joe Biden, PM Modi's forthcoming State visit signifies an exceptional honor reserved solely for America's closest allies and friends.
Day 1: Yoga in New York
On June 20, PM Modi is scheduled to arrive in New York, where he will be warmly greeted by a gathering of Indian Americans at the Andrews Air Force Base. The following day, June 21, the Prime Minister will lead the commemoration of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Ruchira Kamboj, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, stated, "During this event, the PM will pay homage to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi, which now stands proudly on the North Lawn of the UN Headquarters, where yoga activities will also take place." Subsequently, PM Modi will travel to Washington DC, where an intimate private dinner hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden may occur on the evening of June 21, pending confirmation from officials.
