New York : Richard Rojas has been identified as the suspect driver of Maroon Honda car that plowed through Times Square, killing one and leaving over 20 injured.

The cops have taken Mr Rojas under their custody.

As per reports, 26-year-old suspect lives in the Bronx borough of New York City and had been arrested twice for drunken driving in 2008 and 2015.

The crash occurred on a warm and sunny afternoon in New York that brought sizeable crowds out around the city to enjoy the weather.

Witnesses claimed that the driver was heading against traffic before mounting the pavement. More information was awaited.

Police sealed off the area and buildings were in lockdown. People were being forced away from the scene.
