Stampede in South Korea kills over 120 people, more than 100 injured

New Delhi : Nothing less than 120 people lost their lives and over 100 were left injured in a stampede at South Korea's capital Seoul during Halloween festivities. It has been notified that the death toll in the incident may increase as most of the injured people were in critical stage.

The videos available online show people giving CPR to unconscious people lying in the street. According to a report, the police have also confirmed that the people were given CPR on Itaewon street and others were shifted to a hospital.

More than 800 emergency workers have been deployed in the area for medical assistance.

The incident happened when a large crowd started pushing forward through a narrow lane near Hamilton Hotel.

According to local media reports, the stampede occurred after people got to know that an unknown celebrity is present at an Itaewon bar.

Meanwhile, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has issued an official statement for officials to ensure swift treatment of the injured people and also ensure safety in the other festive locations.
