New Delhi : Air India's evacuation plane had to return home without completing its target after the airspace in Ukraine was closed for civilian flights. At the time flight was sent from India to Ukraine, there was no information about airspace closure, but the situation deteriorated sharply and by the time flight reached Iran airspace, the authorities asked Air India crew to return to safety.

This was the second such flight between Delhi-Kyiv-Delhi to bring back stranded Indian nationals from Ukraine.

The first flight was sent on Tuesday by India to bring back its nationals. Even that flight had to make certain changes to its route due to military operations underway in the region.

According to reports, several Indian students have already left the nation in other flights like Ukraine International Airlines, Emirates, FlyDubai and all. But still, there are many people who are still stranded in the nation.

The government is in talks with the local authorities to ensure safe return of such Indian nationals.
