Ukraine President Zelenskyy hints at holding peace talks with Russia

New Delhi : Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has suggested that he is open to peace talks with Russia if Putin agrees to consider his certain demands. This comes against the words Zelenskyy used in September when he had announced "zero possibility of holding talks with Putin."

According to reports, Zelenskyy has cleared that the talks would happen only if Moscow agrees to return all Ukraine's land, compensate for damage caused by the war and the prosecution of war crimes.

Ukraine’s presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak insisted in a tweet Monday that “Ukraine has never refused to negotiate,” but first, Russia needs to withdraw its troops from the country. “Is Putin ready? Obviously not,” Podolyak wrote.

Ukraine and Russia have been fighting war for more than nine months now. There have been several attempts of ending it with the help of talks but no direct meeting of Zelenskyy and Putin has been cracked till date.
