US records worst global single day deaths due to coronavirus, nearly 1500 die

Washington : The United States has recorded nearly 1,500 deaths due to coronavirus between Thursday and Friday, according to the Johns Hopkins University tracker; this is the worst 24-hour death toll globally since the pandemic began in Wuhan in December.

The total number of people who have died due to the pandemic in the United States stands at 7,406.

Learning how coronavirus is spreading among the Americans continuously on a large scale, President Donald Trump on Friday advised citizens to wear a mask while visiting a public place.

"It's going to be really a voluntary thing," he underlined. "You don't have to do it and I'm choosing not to do it, but some people may want to do it and that's okay."

This comes after some scientists claimed that the virus can also spread among people while they involve in normal speaking conversation and not necessarily sneeze or cough.

Speaking to Fox News on Friday, Anthony Fauci, head of infectious diseases at the National Institutes of Health, cited "recent information that the virus can actually be spread even when people just speak as opposed to coughing and sneezing."

A couple of days back, it was reported that many people may be infected and asymptomatic to it. Altogether, the weight was towards the fact that people must wear a mask while going to a public place like a grocery store or a chemist shop.
