Islamabad : The youngest Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai on Wednesday returned to Pakistan six years after she was shot in head by one of the Taliban militants. Her assassination was attempted for an effort to promote education for girls.

Geo TV reported that Malala Yousafzai's flight - Emirates EK-614 - landed at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport at 1:41 AM. She will be spending nearly four days in Pakistan.

According to news agency ANI, Malala has been scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other influential figures during her stay in the country.

Her itinerary has been kept confidential in wake of senstivity attached to her visit in Pakistan. (RELATED: All you need to know about Malala)

An assassination was attempted on Malala Yousafzai in October 2012. A Taliban gunman boarded the school bus she was travelling in, in the Swat valley on October 9, 2012, and asked “Who is Malala?” and shot her. The Taliban later said that they shot her as she was “pro-west” and “promoting western culture in Pashtun areas”. 

Malala was honoured with a Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 which she shared with Indian children’s rights activist Kailash Satyarthi.
