Powerful Engine and Off-road Capabilities of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Under the hood of the new Mercedes-Benz G400d resides the OM656 engine, a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo-diesel motor that delivers a remarkable 330bhp and 700Nm of torque, making it the most potent diesel engine in the brand's history. The engine features Nanoslide cylinder barrels, similar to those used by the Mercedes-AMG

Formula 1 team, and is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Renowned for its off-road prowess, the G-Wagen is built on a robust ladder frame chassis and offers excellent ground clearance of 241mm, underbody protection, and remarkable off-road angles. It boasts a gradability of 45 degrees, a maximum water fording depth of 700mm, a 35-degree sliding slope angle, a maximum approach angle of 30.9 degrees, a maximum departure angle of 29.9 degrees, and a maximum breakover angle of 25.7 degrees. The G-Class also features a special G-Mode, enabling independent activation of one of the three differential locks and low range, which optimizes the damping of the chassis, steering, and accelerator for the most capable off-road performance.

Eco-friendly Design Elements of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class

In line with eco-friendly practices, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class incorporates sustainable materials in its design. This includes the use of coconut fiber with a later emulsion binding agent, composite material with reprocessed wood fiber, and approximately 35.9kg of high-quality recycled plastics, among other environmentally conscious features.
