How to de-link Aadhaar from bank account, mobile numbers

New Delhi : The Supreme Court has declared Section 57 of the Aadhaar Act as unconstitutional and now, bank account-holders and mobile subscribers are no longer required to use their Aadhaar number. Also, private companies cannot ask consumers for Aadhaar details for identification purposes.

In short, those who have already linked their Aadhaar number with bank account and mobile numbers can delink it. Some banks have already started allowing customers to delink Aadhaar number from their account numbers.

According to Point 5 of UIDAI's Compendium of Regulations, "The Aadhaar number holder may, at any time, revoke consent given to a KUA (e-KYC User Agency) for storing his e-KYC data or for sharing it with third parties, and the KUA shall delete the e-KYC data and cease any further sharing."

The compendium says, "The Aadhaar number holder may, at any time, revoke consent given to a KUA for storing his e-KYC data or for sharing it with third parties, and upon such revocation, the KUA shall delete the e-KYC data and cease any further sharing."
