New Delhi : Praveen Kumar Sobti, who is known for his role of Bheem character in BR Chopra's Mahabharat, passed away on Monday evening after suffering a cardiac arrest.

His co-star from Mahabharat Gajendra Chauhan announced the news on Twitter. He wrote: "This morning I heard a sad news; my Mahabharat's brother Praveen Kumar Ji left all us for his journey to heaven… Om Shanti."



Praveen Kumar hails from Punjab and was famous for his huge built and height. He was 6-feet tall. He was also known for winning medals in sports.

Before marching into acting, he was an official athlete for India. He has won four medals in Asian Games (2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze).

He was also awarded with Arjuna award.
