Decorated Jammu and Kashmir cop caught driving two terrorists to New Delhi

New Delhi : A Jammu and Kashmir police officer, who was once awarded with a medal of bravery from the President, has been caught on Saturday with two terrorists; they were inside a vehicle on Srinagar-Jammu Highway. It has been learned that they were on their way to Delhi.

Davinder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police posted at the sensitive Srinagar International airport was caught at Wanpoh in the Kulgam district with Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Naveed Babu. Terrorist Babu is accused of killing 11 non-local workers including truck drivers and labourers in South Kashmir.

The killings are from the time when non-locals, especially truck drivers, were being thrashed to move out from the state after scrapping of Article 370.

Police sources say they were tracking Naveed Babu's movements and his location was traced after he made a phone call to his brother.

The cops in action intercepted a vehicle on the national highway in which Babu was traveling with his accomplice Asif and Deputy Superintendent of Police Davinder Singh.

Davinder Singh was awarded the President's Police Medal for Gallantry on August 15 last year.

Post their arrest, the cops conducted several raids in the Srinagar and South Kashmir. One raid was done at the residence of Davinder Singh; the police recovered an AK-47 rifle and two pistols. Another AK rifle and a pistol were recovered based on Naveed Babu's confession.

The police said that the interrogation is underway to find out why they were traveling towards Delhi.
