New PM office named “Seva Teerth”; North and South Block complexes to be converted into museums
New Delhi : Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said that the North and South Blocks, which earlier housed several Union ministries, will now be converted into museums. The Union Cabinet has also passed a resolution naming the new Prime Minister’s Office as “Seva Teerth”.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Seva Teerth complex, which houses the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat. The name “Seva Teerth Complex” has been inscribed on the wall in Devanagari script, along with the motto “Nagrik Devo Bhava” (citizen is akin to God).
The new complex brings together key administrative offices that were previously functioning from different locations, consolidating them within modern, future-ready facilities.
Kartavya Bhavan-1 and 2 accommodate major ministries, including Finance, Defence, Health and Family Welfare, Education, and Information and Broadcasting.
Both complexes feature digitally integrated offices, structured public interface zones and centralised reception facilities, aimed at enhancing coordination, efficiency, citizen engagement and employee well-being.
They are also equipped with comprehensive safety and security systems, including smart access controls, surveillance networks and advanced emergency response infrastructure, ensuring a secure and accessible environment for officials and visitors.
