Delhi : The CNG version of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV was introduced today by Toyota Kirloskar Motor. The G and S versions of the SUV will be offered. The G model costs Rs. 15.29 lakh, while the S variant costs Rs. 13.23 lakh (ex-showroom). At Rs 95,000, the CNG version costs more than the manual Petrol versions. The SUV is still available for reservations; interested parties can do so online or by going to their local dealership.

Since November of last year, Toyota has been taking reservations for the Hyryder CNG for a nominal fee of Rs 25,000. Contrary to popular belief, the company's Hyryder CNG has a stated fuel economy of 26.60 km per kilogramme while costing Rs 95,000 more than its petrol version.

The Grand Vitara CNG, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, and Volkswagen Taigun are just a few of the vehicles the new Hyryder CNG will compete against.

Characteristics and its design

The appearance of the new Toyota Hyryder CNG is identical to that of its mild-hybrid petrol sister. The inclusion of the CNG badging is the sole distinguishing modification. Inside, the new Hyryder CNG has an all black cabin and shares Maruti's Grand Vitara's switchgear and steering wheel.

A big 60-liter CNG tank is also available from the Japanese manufacturer, however it reduces the boot's storage space compared to the gasoline version. This Toyota SUV shares a basis with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and it is available with both mild- and strong-hybrid powertrains.

In terms of functionality, the new Hyryder CNG has six airbags, automatic climate control, a 9-inch touchscreen screen with Apple CarPlay, LED headlights, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Engine and transmission of Hyryder

A 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder K-series engine powers the new Hyryder CNG, which is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. When powered by CNG, this engine produces 121.5 Nm and 87 BHP. The same engine produces 99 BHP and 136 Nm when powered by gasoline.

It should be noted that same engine, which has comparable fuel efficiency, is also available in the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara S-CNG. It was introduced in September of last year as the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The mild-hybrid petrol Toyota Hyryder comes in four trim levels: E, S, G, and V.
