Delhi : On Wednesday at the Auto Expo 2023, engineering firm Greaves Cotton declared its entry into the electric powertrains market.

The business showcased three two-wheelers under the Ampere brand series at the Auto Expo 2023: the Ampere Primus, Ampere NXG, and an Ampere NXU multi-utility scooter that can also be used for delivery.

The business debuted the electric passenger vehicle Greaves ELP, the electric cargo vehicle Greaves ELC, and the future freight idea Greaves Aero Vision in the commercial three-wheeler market.

According to Nagesh Basavanhalli, who spoke with Reuters ahead of the event, the most recent scooters would have top speeds of at least 75 kilometres per hour, greater performance, and a range of more than 100 kilometres on a single full charge.

"With the introduction of new models, growth and momentum should continue in both two- and three-wheelers," he added. "We've been expanding three to five times every year."

India's market for electric two-wheelers has benefited from a push from the government, which provided subsidies, set ambitious short-term EV sales objectives, and attracted suppliers and investment to the industry.

According to statistics from the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Cars, an industry association, Greaves' Ampere brand has a 13% market share of electric two-wheelers in India and has sold more than 66,000 vehicles so far in fiscal year 2023.

Basavanhalli remarked that the company's average selling price has increased over the past 30 months from 40,000 INR to expected 100,000 INR ($1,223) as it has added more features and improved the performance of its scooters.
