Delhi : Minister for Gujarat Rushikesh Patel stated on Thursday that the government was "extremely hopeful" that Tesla, led by Elon Musk, would decide to locate a plant in the state and that the company was in contact with the government about the matter. According to news sources, Patel was answering questions about the US-based electric vehicle manufacturer's potential plans to establish a production facility in Gujarat.

"The Gujarati administration is really optimistic about Tesla visiting the state. Gujarat is the first place Elon Musk is considering going. As he started looking for a suitable place to locate the plant, Gujarat has been on his mind," said Patel, the state government's spokesperson and minister of health.

Maybe very soon, Tesla's arrival will be the subject of an official announcement. Hopefully, Tesla visits Gujarat. As we did with Tata, Ford, and Suzuki in the past, we will undoubtedly welcome it and offer all required support," Patel said to reporters in Gandhinagar. According to Patel, there was ongoing discussion with Tesla, which might be the cause of the news that the company was intending to build a facility in the state.

Notably, in June in New York, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was met by Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc., the largest electric car manufacturer in the world. Following their encounter, Musk announced his intention to travel to India in 2024. S J Haider, Gujarat's Additional Chief Secretary for the Department of Industries and Mines, stated in September that the Center is in contact with Tesla to explore establishing a manufacturing site in India.

In order to guarantee that the state plays a major part in the future plans, he had stated that Gujarat will approach the corporation at the suitable moment. Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal recently stated that Tesla plans to get parts from India for about USD 1.9 billion this year as opposed to USD 1 billion the previous year.
