Delhi : The formal introduction of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is still a few days away, but new information about the 4x4 off-road vehicle is emerging every day. The carmaker has recently shared information on the Jimny 4x4's fuel efficiency. An ARAI certified mileage for the Jimny 4x4 of 16.94 kmpl with the manual gearbox and 16.39 kmpl with the automated gearbox has been made public. The Jimny will only be available with a single 1.5-liter K-series petrol engine option, producing 103.3 horsepower and 134.2 Nm of torque, in addition to a manual or automatic gearbox choice.

Based on these numbers, the Jimny 4x4 is the more fuel-efficient off-road vehicle when compared to the petrol Mahindra Thar RWD and 4X4 models, with the Thar petrol receiving an ARAI stated fuel efficiency score of 15.2 kmpl. The Thar's larger 2.0-litre engine, which generates a significantly greater 150 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, must be taken into consideration. Although the Thar 4X4 may be the most potent of the two, the Jimny still has the advantage of four doors and can carry more passengers while getting better mileage on paper.

By the end of May 2023, Maruti Suzuki will introduce the Jimny 4x4, and deliveries are anticipated to start in early June 2023. For the off-roader, the company has so far taken 30,000 reservations. All of its models will come equipped with Suzuki's All-Grip Pro 4x4 technology as standard.
