Tata Punch iCNG: Specs, price and all details revealed
Delhi : At the Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors displayed the Punch in CNG form. The Punch iCNG will go on sale in India today, the company has now revealed. In addition, Tata can add twin-cylinder technology to the CNG version portfolio for the Tiago iCNG and Tigor iCNG. Hyundai's Exter CNG will be the Punch iCNG's main competition once it is released.
Tata's twin-cylinder technology will be used in the Punch iCNG vehicle. It means that instead of one larger CNG tank, it will have two smaller ones. They will recline on the boot's floor well. The CNG tanks will have a total capacity of 60 liters. Utilizing twin-cylinder technology has the biggest benefit of preserving all of the cargo space. Therefore, the passengers will still be able to stow their baggage and other belongings in the boot.
The same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that will be able to run on CNG will power the Punch iCNG. It can generate a maximum power of 84.82 bhp and a maximum torque of 113 Nm while operating on gasoline. On CNG, however, the output will be reduced to 97 Nm of torque and 75.94 bhp of power. The sole available transmission for the iCNG models is a 5-speed manual. However, the standard gasoline-powered models also come with a 5-speed AMT.
On the right side of the steering wheel in the cabin, there will be a fuel switcher button. It will be utilized to change from gasoline to CNG or the other way around. An electronic sunroof that could be opened or closed using voice commands was also included in the Punch iCNG that was on display at the Auto Expo 2023. The Punch is not currently available with an electric sunroof. The Punch iCNG was additionally fitted with six airbags. Having said that, it is currently unknown whether or not the tiny SUV will include these features.
