Delhi : Today we'll look at the sales performance of mid-size SUVs in February 2023 after looking at the sub-compact / sub-4-meter SUV sales (Nexon, Brezza, Venue, Sonet, etc.) and the compact SUV sales (Creta, Seltos, etc.). Mahindra holds entire dominance over the mid-size SUV class, as seen by the 57.62% market share it held in February 2023, with over 11,455 vehicles sold. Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic, which together sold 6,950 units, and XUV700, which sold 4,505 units last month, all contributed to this accomplishment. Mahindra has accomplished a tremendous success in this market.

February 2023 Mid Size SUV sales

In contrast to the 2,610 units sold in 2022, Scorpio had a startling 166.28% YoY increase and also holds a 34.96% market share. With 4,138 units sold in 2022 vs 8.87% YoY increase, the XUV700 currently holds 22.66% of this market. Both of Mahindra's product lines experience MoM declines, with Scorpio and XUV700 seeing YoY declines of 20.25% and 22.15%, respectively.

With the introduction of the new Hector, MG appears to have reclaimed some market share in this industry. In all, 2,558 Hector and Hector Plus units were sold last month. MG showed increase of 21.69% YoY and 4.79% MoM compared to 2,102 units sold a year ago and 2,441 units sold the month prior. At 456 units YoY and 117 units MoM, volume increased. With almost twice as many sales as Safari, Harrier appears to be a greater seller. Tata sold 2,054 Harriers, a 21.57% YoY reduction, a volume loss of 565 units, but a volume increase of 482 units, a 30.66% MoM rise. The Hyundai Alcazar is in fifth place, sandwiched between Harrier and Safari.

Last month, Alcazar sold 1,559 units. With Alcazar, a YoY drop of 38.04% and a meagre MoM rise of 1.43% were seen. Safari ranked sixth in the sales of mid-size SUVs last month with 1,252 units sold. Safari saw a 34.76% YoY reduction and a volume loss of 667 units. Safari fared better in the MoM study, growing by 21.32% and adding 220 volume units.

On February 22, Tata will introduce the Red Dark Edition, which will provide the Harrier and Safari ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a bigger and sleeker 10.25" touchscreen display, a digital instrument display, and delicious red inside upholstery. All of this ought to improve Tata's ability to compete with MG and Hyundai, but Mahindra's hegemony is probably going to last.
