2023 Hyundai Verna: 8,000 bookings and goal to double sales
Delhi : Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) launched the new generation Verna in India yesterday, with pricing starting at Rs. 10.89 lakh for the base EX version and up to Rs. 17.37 lakh for the top-of-the-line SX (O) trim (both prices, ex-showroom). The 2023 Verna is offered in EX, S, SX, and SX (O) trim levels, each with two petrol engines and as many gearbox options.
Upon the unveiling of the midsize sedan, the country's second largest automaker reported that it had received over 8,000 bookings. It intends to quadruple the model's sales and therefore become the segment leader by outselling Honda's fifth-generation City, which underwent a minor redesign a few days ago.
The brand places a large bet on current Verna customers and young consumers to generate sales. Hyundai presently leads the midsize SUV sector with the Creta, and an improved version will be available later this year or in 2024. The new-generation Hyundai Verna features several interior and exterior changes over the previous model.
It features the longest wheelbase and the widest track in its class. It also has the largest boot space (528 litres) for added convenience. In comparison to the previous model, the new Verna is 95 mm longer, 36 mm wider, and has a 70 mm larger wheelbase. The exterior is based on the newest Sensuous Sportiness concept, with parametric design patterns adorning it.
A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, switchable type infotainment and HVAC panels, wireless charger, an electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, coloured TFT MID, six airbags as standard, Level 2 ADAS technology, powered front seats, an eight-speaker Bose audio, 64-colour ambient lighting, and other features are included.
In terms of performance, the 2023 Hyundai Verna has a 1.5L turbo petrol engine that produces 160 PS and 253 Nm, while the standard 1.5L NA petrol produces 115 PS and 144 Nm. The former is linked to a six-speed manual transmission or an iVT, while the latter is linked to a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DCT.
