Gold: Akshay Kumar's highest opening day collection
New Delhi : Akshay Kumar's recent release, Gold, is doing wonders for him. The movie collected whopping Rs 25.25 crore on its opening day to become third highest opener of the year and biggest opener for the actor. Sanju and Race 3 are above it.
So far Akshay Kumar's Singh is Bliing was his biggest opener with an earning of Rs 20.67 crore on its first day.
Though the film witnessed a significant dip in earnings on the second day, given it was a working day. According to early estimates, the film earned around Rs 17 crore on Thursday.
The sports drama revolves around independent India's first Olympic gold win - a feat achieved by the Indian men's hockey team in 1948 at the 14th London Olympiad. Akshay essays the role of the manager of the team, Tapan Das.
Gold stars Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Nikita Dutta in pivotal roles.
