Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium 2 to be named English Medium

New Delhi : Hindi Medium starring Irrfan Khan has been a big hit in the box-office. While fans are still enjoying the old one, the new one will soon hit the big screen. Yes, the actor is back in town, ready to work on the sequel of his 2017 film.

Sources confirmed that the sequel of Hindi Medium will be called English Medium as the film will now include people from other ethnicities in the US. The film will show Irrfan's daughter going to the US for higher studies.

A source close to the development told media "Hindi Medium 2 was just a working title. So once the script was locked, the makers decided to keep the title according to the subject. The film now has a time and a country leap, and there will be people of other ethnicities as well. Since the film is now based in the US, it will duly be called English Medium."

The so-called English medium will target global including those who go to the US for higher education and don't have English as their first language. The film will not just address the issues of Hindi medium students in the US but also those of the students from other countries who face trouble fitting into a system where English is the primary spoken language," added the source.

Unlike Saket Chaudhary, Homi Adajania is the new director of the sequel. Meanwhile, the actress to be cast opposite Irrfan as his wife is still under finalisation. In Hindi Medium, Pakistani actress Saba Qamar played Irrfan's wife.

Hindi Medium was a huge success at the box office and earned over Rs 300 crore worldwide.

Producer Dinesh Vijan recently confirmed that the sequel would hit the theatres in 2020. "Hindi Medium sequel cannot be without Irrfan sir. We are just waiting for him to be better and as soon as he gets better, we will roll it. That's why I am saying it will come in 2020," he told an entertainment website.

As of now, Tigmanshu is also planning to direct Irrfan in a film. "Yes, we will do a film soon. Actually, we were in the process of writing one for him. Probably, if everything goes well, we shall be making the film soon," he told a newspaper.
