Bharat Movie Review: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif leave you teary eyed (Rating: ***)

New Delhi : Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer 'Bharat' movie has released in the theatres and it is nothing less than a treat for Salman Khan fans on the special occasion of Eid. The film is about a journey of man and a nation who share a name, Bharat, covering a course of ageing superstar from 17 to 70 in the time duration of 167 minutes.

Since it is a Salman Khan movie, the expectation bar stays way ahead of what it actually delivers. But, this does not mean that the movie is bad or will leave you disappointed. Instead, there are some sequences which are engaging, filled with emotions and unforgettable.

However, a major section of the movie waves through a string of implausible situations which were aimed to bring humour and superficial emotions; though it struggles in bringing the intent. The major section of the movie remains predictable and audiences have only Salman Khan factor to enjoy.

Bharat is also an example of sloppy writing as it misses the details of period drama; for instance the dresses look way modern than the period shown - in the 1950s, an anachronistic Disha Patani pops up as a circus performer who dresses and acts like a 2019 item girl.

In terms of acting, Salman Khan has pulled of a character only he could in the industry. Though, you may realise only makeup change at the major while the walk, talking style and aura remain constant. Salman gets considerable support from a cast of actors, Katrina Kaif and Sunil Grover included, who know exactly what they are supposed to do in a film driven more by star power than by genuine flashes of inspiration.

Other actors like Kumud Mishra and Shashank Arora remain massively underutilized in the movie.

Despite the fact that there were many points which were too far from the perfection, the film still manages some peaks that drops audiences into a sea of emotions and tears. The climactic passages centred on a television show designed to help Partition victims reunite with their loved ones remains unforgettable.

The actor-director firm of Salman Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar has two smash hits in their kitty - Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. 'Bharat', considering the fact that it released on Eid, will most likely be the third superhit for the duo.

Final Verdict: Bharat is a clear treat for Salman Khan fans.
