Jaipur : A shocking news from Rajasthan reports that a priest of Jagat Pita Brahma temple in the Pushkar city was attacked by a man, all of a sudden. Identified as Ashok Kumar Meghwal, the accused attacked the priest with a sharp-edged weapon. Sources confirmed that the attacker is mentally disturbed and is disappointed that President Ram Nath Kovind was not allowed to worship in the temple when he had visited Pushkar recently. It has been reported that Ashok entered Jagat Pita Brahma temple and attacked priest Mahadev Puri with a sharp weapon despite of heavy security. However, the priest managed to escape from the situation. However, he received minor bruises on his hand and is being cured at the Government Hospital in Pushkar. When ANI news agency had words with priest Mahadev Puri, he said that he wasn’t present when President Ram Nath Kovind arrived to visit Jagat Pita Brahma temple. Kovind and his family visited the Brahma temple in Pushkar and offered prayers from the stairs on May 15. Social media was abuzz with reports that the priests had objected to the President entering the temple on caste grounds. However, these reports were confirmed false and baseless. The press secretary to President Kovind, Ashok Malik tweeted an explanation, “President’s visit to Pushkar was very short as he had to fly to Mumbai that afternoon. Despite repeated requests of government, temple authorities and the priests, his schedule didn’t permit him a full darshan. This was entirely the president’s decision. There was no other factor at all.”
