Chavara Cultural Centre Delhi celebrates Assamese dance evening, advocating cultural friendship and unity in diversity
New Delhi : Chavara Cultural Centre Delhi, a prominent NGO committed to fostering peace and harmony through music, dance, art, and cultural exchange, successfully organized an Assamese dance evening on Saturday. The event aimed to promote the message of cultural friendship and celebrate the rich diversity of Indian traditions.
The evening commenced with the honorable presence of Mr. Umakant Lakera, President of the Press Club of India, who inaugurated the event, symbolizing the significance of cultural integration and appreciation. Mr. Pranjal Pratim Das, Chief Correspondent of Prathidin Times and Joint Secretary of the North East Media Forum were also present as the Guest of Honour at the event.
"Culture has the power to unite and transcend boundaries. Through events like the Assamese dance evening organized by Chavara Cultural Centre Delhi, we are reminded of the beauty and diversity of our nation. Such initiatives promote cultural friendship and reinforce the values of unity in diversity," said Umakant Lakera, President of the Press Club of India.
The captivating performances showcased a variety of traditional dance forms from Assam, including the enchanting Sattriya dance, the elegant Devadasi dance, the vibrant Bihu dance, and the rhythmic Bhortal dance. These awe-inspiring presentations were skillfully executed by esteemed artists, namely Meenakshi Medhi, Perrine Legoullon, Oonmona Das, and Rodali Bora from Sattriya Nrityasala.
Dr. Fr. Roby Kannanchira CMI, the Director of Chavara Cultural Centre Delhi, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response to the Assamese dance evening. He further reiterated the organization's commitment to promoting cultural understanding and fostering unity through various artistic forms.
