Coronavirus cases in India nears 40,000, registers highest jump in 24 hours
New Delhi : The total tally of coronavirus cases in India has reached near the 40,000-mark as the nation recorded 2,644 new cases, highest in single day, on Saturday. The death toll from Covid-19 has gone up to to 1,301 after 83 coronavirus-linked deaths were reported in 24 hours.
The total number of recoveries has also crossed 10,000 mark.
Several states are set to release some restrictions from Monday as shops and offices have been allowed to operate in green and orange zones with restrictions.
Maharashtra alone reported 12,296 coronavirus cases, while its death toll also rose to 521. Gujarat reported 5,054 cases with 262 covid-19 related deaths.
