New Delhi : India has registered a massive jump in the number of daily new coronavirus infections; on Friday, the tri-colour nation logged 17,336 new COVID-19 infections.

On Thursday, India had registered 13,313 new cases of coronavirus. Talking about the states, Maharashtra reported 5,218 new cases, taking the total number of coronavirus active cases in the state to 24,867. The positivity rate in Maharashtra was at 9.31 per cent.

The authorities however have claimed that maximum number of cases had mild or no symptoms and did not require hospitalization.

Daily covid positivity rate in India stands at 4.32 per cent. And the recovery rate stands at 98.59 per cent. 196.77 crore vaccine doses against Covid have been administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive.

85.98 crore total tests have been conducted so far. Meanwhile, 4,01,649 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
