Jaffrabad metro station shut down after anti-CAA protesters create chaos

New Delhi : Entry and exit gates of Jaffrabad Metro Stations have been closed after people continued their protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The metro trains will not be taking a halt at the station.

The police officials have deployed heavy security forces to ensure law and order if the situation deteriorates in the area.

On Saturday night, around 500 people (mostly women) gathered near the metro station in protest against the CAA and NRC.

The women were seen carrying the national tricolour and raising slogans of ‘aazadi’. They said they would not move from the site until the Centre revokes Citizenship Act. They also tied a blue band on their arm and also raised ‘Jai Bhim’ slogans.

The road traffic was also hit due to the sudden protest at the site. However, the cops have been trying to talk to the protesters and clear the roads.

A protest is already going on near the main Seelampur road and Kardampuri against the amended Citizenship Act. The protest at Jaffrabad took place at a time efforts are being made to clear a road blocked by anti-CAA protesters at Shaheen Bagh.
