New Delhi : With 64,399 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of positive cases in India has gone to 21,53,011. 6,28,747 are currently active cases and 14,80,885 patients have already been discharged, data from the Union Health Ministry showed.

In a recent development, Karnataka Health Minister B. Sriramulu has tested positive for the COVID-19 infection. He announced the news on Twitter, saying that his test reports came positive after he suffered from flu. 

The minister has been shifted to a state-owned hospital for further treatment.

"From the time of Corona's appearance, I have had the opportunity to visit the 30 districts and work in harmony with the government's desire to treat people well. It is in this backdrop that I am going to be hospitalised and treated," he said in Kannada in a series of tweets.

"All those who have been in contact with me recently have been requested to take precautionary measures," he further said.



Meanwhile, Karnataka posted its highest single-day spike on Sunday with over 7,000 cases and 93 fatalities.
