New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced an extension of ongoing lockdown till May 3, adding that all restrictions will remain in place during the extended lockdown.


The decision has been taken in view of rising coronavirusc casesin the national capital.

Earlier, the Covid-19 imposed lockdown was supposed to end on April 26. "We will have to watch the situation for a few more days whether the cases decrease or increase," Arvind Kejriwal said while making the announcement.

Kejriwal also mentioned that the number of coronavirus did not subsidise despite 5-day lockdown.

"Everybody voted for the extension of lockdown. The positivity rate reached up to 36-37 per cent in the past few days although it has slightly dipped now. It is around 29 per cent today," he said. 

Meanwhile, Delhi is also dealing with the shortage of oxygen in many hospitals.
