Pokhran blasts create panic in the area

New Delhi : A panic like situation gripped Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district after eight loud explosions rocked Pokhran as Indian Army destroyed its old ordnance on Tuesday evening.

The Indian Army stated, "Old ordnance was being destroyed between 6.30 pm and 7.15 pm at Pokhran area of Thar desert."

The force said that it is a regular drill and there is nothing to worry about it. Amid loud sounds across the border area, Pakistan media started its fake news programs claiming that India was conducting a "thermonuclear and tactical nuclear weapons test".

Residents of the area moved out from their residences as windows of a few homes were left broken in the impact of the blasts.

Many thought the blasts were emanating from across the border. Sources in the armed security forces clarified that "it is just destruction of old ordnance and there is nothing to panic".
