MPs to get steep salary hike up to 100% soon

New Delhi : Member of Parliament can expect a steep hike of up to 100 per cent in their salaries soon. It has been learned that the Centre is mulling over increasing their basic pay from current Rs 50000 per month to Rs 1 lakh a month.

According to a news report, Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has also given a green signal to consider a proposal sent by the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament, which is headed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Yogi Adityanath.

Additionally, the hike will not limit just to the basic pays; instead allowances given to the members will also be raised in considerable proportion.

Amid this, Centre is also mulling over increasing the President's salary from current Rs. 1.5 lakh per month to Rs. 5lakh and the Governor's salary from current Rs. 1.10 lakh to Rs. 2.5 lakh.
