Netaji Amar Rahe: Mulayam Singh Yadav cremated with full state honours in Saifai
New Delhi : With thousands of people gathered at the last rites, Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav has been cremated with full state honours at his native village Saifai in Uttar Pradesh. He was 82 year old.
Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away on Monday at Medanta hospital in Gurugram after a prolonged illness.
During the cremation ceremony, his fans and followers were seen shouting slogans like 'Netaji Amar Rahe'.
Several political leaders including Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath paid their tributes to Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Mulayam Singh Yadav's health condition was critical from past couple of days and he was running on life saving drugs. He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital on October 2 after his health deteriorated.
Mulayam Singh Yadav was one of the most prominent leaders of Uttar Pradesh who served as the Chief Minister of the state thrice and has also served in the Union Government as the Minister of Defence. He was elected 10 times as MLA and 7 times as Lok Sabha MP.
